BIG Goals=S.M.A.R.T action…
February 2, 2010

There is a rythym to life that can be defined by a sense of season, an awareness of what is happening around us and within us. Heightening our awareness allows us to bring greater clarity and subsequent growth into our lives. My monthly muse will highlight a particualr theme for each month that aligns itself to this ‘sense of season’.

January for me, signifies a sense of connection…to family and friends and to ourselves. The slower pace of the holiday season allows us time and space to engage and often re-connect with those people that are important to us, to mend the fabric of our relationships that have often been neglected through out the year. Professionally, it is a great time to re-evaluate your network and support system and plug the gaps. What areas of your professional life could most benefit from engaging with resourceful people whose expertise  adds value to your business and growth.

The lull of January allows us space to set a solid platform for the year ahead. Have I even mentioned goals once this year yet? No…I haven’t. Too often we hastily rush into the New Year, freshly propelled foward by a sense of resolutionary responsibility and obligation, paying little regard to our inner voice and connection to what is truly important to us. Grow deep in January by spending time with yourself and evaluating the non-negotiables of life. What can you simply not do without in 2010? Imagine the people who add colour to your daily life, passions that bring you joy, work that makes you feel light, pursuits that truly excite and motivate you…and there lies the key to your success and happiness in 2010.

Only through our connectedness to others can we really know and enhance the self. And only through working on the self can we begin to enhance our connectedness to others.
